If you are curious about yoga, and would like to learn but want to start in a small group all at the same level, then this class is ideal for you. In this 5 week class you will learn the basic postures and principles of a yoga practice and will become comfortable working at your own level in a warm, supportive and nurturing environment. Shiva Shakti Yoga with Andrew and Francesca

Including influences from different styles and methods, Andrew and Francesca from Pure Yoga Cheshire will guide you through a heartfelt practice where you can rediscover fluidity and strength, both physically, energetically and emotionally. We invite you to contemplate and discuss some of the matters of Heart and Mind!

Beginning with gentle floor work, we awaken the joints and the breath with mantra, mudra and more classical pranayama. Moving onto standing postures and chest openers taps into our inner strength. Some classical Yin yoga postures will be held for several minutes, completing the practice with some meditation and relaxation.

All welcome to this strong but accessible practice - sweet and gentle, strong and satisfying, welcoming all the elements of your Being… open to the delight of your inner radiance!

11 am to 1 pm: Gentle floor work, awakening the joints and the breath, moving onto standing postures and chest openers to tap into our inner strength. A well rounded Yang practice.

2 to 4 pm: Satsang – questions and answers. Calming Somatic and Yin yoga postures, completing the practice with meditation and long relaxation.

Healthy Woman Workshop

Nicky Thomas is offering a series of workshops designed to promote women’s wellbeing and mindfulness with yoga, qigong, acupuncture and nutrition.  There are pivotal times in women’s lives when our bodies and minds communicate a need for us to pay greater attention to our well-being.  These workshops will help you to understand how your cyclical life is informing and inspiring change, what your body is telling you during the different phases of your life cycle, and the ways in which you can respond to those cues.

Cleansing and purifying body and soul with Nestor Portnoy

A range of yoga practices to stimulate and improve the organs and the spirit, this workshop is much more than asana. The session consists of four parts. In each part we will practice:

-         a series of flowing dynamic postures. The postures can be energetic and challenging or more gentle, according on the student’s preference. This allows the student the freedom to regulate the pace of their own practice

-         cleansing breaths to awaken the dormant energies in the body, or kriya breathing, to activate the digestive system

-         balance practice to re-stabilise the body and the mind

-         a gentle (or not so gentle) inversion to stimulate the digestive system and enhance clarity of thought

-         gentle relaxation, in preparation for the next part

The session will end with a fun mirroring exercise, to unwind before the final relaxation.

Iyengar Yoga Full Day Workshop

We are delighted to host Senior Level 1 teacher Caroline Smith for a day of Iyengar Yoga.

Caroline is one of our local teachers working largely in the Colne area. She has been practising Iyengar yoga for more than 18 years and has been teaching for 13 years. She trained initially with Alan Brown completing her introductory certificate in 2003 and her Senior 1 level of Certification in 2014. Caroline is a committed and enthusiastic teacher who has studied with a number of the UK's senior teachers. She has a particular interest in Yoga therapy having worked with Alan Brown in the weekly therapy class for 7 years.
Caroline is also very interested in the philosophy that underpins yoga practice and has recently visited Toronto to study Yoga Philosophy with Gitte Bechsgard, Sheila Haswell and Gloria Steinberg.
We are looking forward to Caroline sharing her experience and knowledge in this full day session.  This session is appropriate for Iyengar Yoga Students who have regularly attended Iyengar Yoga classes for at least one year.  Please bring a light packed lunch.
